Cursillo Knights of Columbus Marriage Encounter Mom's Group Respect for Life St. Vincent de Paul Society Seniors C's "Tears Speak...Spirits Soar" Women's Organization CursilloCursillo is a three-day retreat for adult men and women, that allows one to discover Christ in a peaceful and spiritual environment. It awakens a deeper meaning of the Eucharist, the beauty of Sunday and daily worship, and a deeper appreciation of the Catholic faith. Retreats are held three times a year, both in English and in Spanish, with separate sessions for men and women. Knights of ColumbusKnights of Columbus Council 11999 is the Holy Spirit chapter of this national service and spiritual organization. The group sponsors many programs for family, youth, and church. They respond eagerly to the call to help at many parish functions. Their various fund raising activities include a monthly pancake breakfast, the annual Fiesta Bowl ushering and Tempe Block Party parking that support Holy Spirit's Vision 2000 program. Other activities include the annual Mentally Challenged Drive, the Basketball Free-Throw Contest, and the Golf Tournament to benefit the community. Meetings are held the second Thursday of each month at 7PM in Room 1. An extension of the Knights is the Ladies' Auxiliary, also known as the "Lady Knights." This group was established in September 2000, and has its own charter and service projects. John Pappas School is an ongoing ministry for them. All women of the parish are eligible to belong. You do not need to be connected with a Knight to join the Lady Knights. Marriage EncounterWorldwide Marriage Encounter offers a weekend experience designed to give married couples the opportunity to learn a technique of loving communication that they can use for the rest of their lives. It's a chance to look deeply into their relationship with each other and with God. It's a time to share their feelings, hopes and dreams with each other. Mom's Group"The Mom's Group" is for parish mothers with young children and babies to get together for fun, support and occasional crafting. The group meets every other Wednesday in the parish Nursery at 10:00AM. Children are welcomed! For more information on the next meeting, call the parish office. Respect for LifeThis ministry seeks to raise awareness of the sanctity of life from the moment of conception to the time of natural death. It is an outreach to the parish and community as well as an educative ministry. St. Vincent de Paul SocietyThis ministry actively helps people in need of food and limited financial assistance for utilities or housing. Meetings are held the first Monday of each month in Room 4, at 7:00PM. Seniors C'sParishioners, 55 and beyond, meet every Thursday at 9AM in the social hall. Activities include mini-trips, holiday events, socials, bingo, bunco, bazaar crafts, and bake sales. The seniors also support the parish through office mailings, visits to the sick, and the sending of greeting cards. "Tears Speak...Spirits Soar"Women who have experienced abortion and are seeking guidance, reconciliation, confidential sharing, forgiveness and healing are welcome to meet every second Tuesday of the month, at 7:00PM in the parish rectory to assure anonymity. Women's OrganizationThe Women's Organization provides an opportunity to all women in the parish to become involved in fund raising events and in socialization. The organization has been active in the parish for more than 25 years. The primary fundraising events are the Holiday Craft Sale and Bake Sales. Proceeds from these events benefit the parish and diocesan seminarians. Meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month (except July and August) at 7:30PM. |
