Dear parishioners,

I would like to let you know that I will be traveling to Ecuador from Monday, September 21 through September 29 to attend the PANAM Zone Assembly as a U.S delegate representing my religious congregation, the Society of the Divine Word (SVD).

This assembly brings together representatives of the Divine Word Missionaries from every province and region across the Americas. Together, we will pray, reflect, and discern the direction of our missionary life and service in the years ahead.

Ecuador also holds a special connection to our parish. Before coming to Holy Spirit, our parochial vicar, Fr. Toan Vu, SVD, served there as a missionary for more than 16 years. I look forward to visiting the country and coming to know, in some small way, the people and the Church among whom he ministered for so long.

I kindly ask you to keep me and all the participants in your prayers. May the Holy Spirit guide our conversations, our discernment, and our decisions, so that we may continue to serve God’s people with faithfulness and courage.

Please know that I will also carry all of you in my prayers during these days as well.
