Young Family Ministry: Growing Together in Faith and Community

Excerpt: Today’s young families face unique joys and challenges. Balancing careers, parenting, and faith formation can often feel overwhelming. Our ministry seeks to create a place of belonging — where no family walks alone. Through prayer, fellowship, and practical support, we hope every parent and child will experience the warmth of our parish family and the steadfast love of God.

Following our parish listening sessions on September 4, 2025, and in harmony with the Family Synod of the Diocese of Phoenix, our parish joyfully announces the launch of the Young Family Ministry — a new community dedicated to accompanying young married couples (0–15 years of marriage) as they grow in faith, love, and belonging.

From our listening sessions, we heard the heartfelt hopes and needs of our young families — a longing for meaningful friendships, spiritual nourishment amid the busyness of family life, and guidance in helping their children encounter God both at home and within our parish community. In response, our parish embraces this ministry as both a gift and a mission: to walk alongside young families, to uplift and strengthen them, and to help them discover God’s grace at the heart of marriage and family life.

In the midst of work demands, sleepless nights, and the joyful chaos of raising children, our parish recognizes a sacred calling: to be a spiritual home where young families are known, loved, and supported. The Young Family Ministry is not just a program — it is a living expression of the Church’s heart, where faith is not only taught but lived, celebrated, and shared in the rhythm of daily family life.

Today’s young families face unique joys and challenges. Balancing careers, parenting, and faith formation can often feel overwhelming. Our ministry seeks to create a place of belonging — where no family walks alone. Through prayer, fellowship, and practical support, we hope every parent and child will experience the warmth of our parish family and the steadfast love of God.

Faith does not take root only in classrooms or Sunday liturgies, but most deeply within the home, where love, prayer, and daily life intertwine. Around kitchen tables, during bedtime prayers, and amid both laughter and struggle, faith is nurtured and passed on. Parents are the first and most important witnesses of faith, shaping their children’s hearts through the example of everyday holiness.

Each family is a unique reflection of God’s love and carries its own story of faith. When families come together, the Church is renewed and strengthened. Through the Young Family Ministry, our parish seeks to bring these stories together — through prayer, fellowship, and service — where faith is celebrated, friendships grow, and the bonds of the domestic church build up the Body of Christ.

I warmly invite all young married couples to join this ministry. I look forward to meeting you and your family at our upcoming gatherings! If you have any questions or would like to learn more, please contact Ryan Ayala in the parish office at re@holyspirit-tempe-az.org or reach out to David Pivonka at dpiv99@gmail.com.

May our parish always be a place where young families find faith, friendship, and home.

And may every prayer, gathering, and small act of love remind us that we are building God’s Kingdom — one family, one moment, one grace-filled encounter at a time.

In Christ,
Fr. Long Phi Nguyen, SVD
